My wife’s great grandfather, B.P. Story, once wrote the delightful text to this hymn and it was found, years later, by my mother in law, tucked away in an old hymnal. His name and the date, Sept. 23, 1877 were written on the old, tattered paper.
Anne’s mom was then kind enough to entrust the lyrics to me, to put it to music. With very few changes from the original text, this is the result of that effort. I hope you enjoy. Please, please, feel free to share it (or even put it to better music!!!) and let us know if you do.
In His Peace,
Tom

Wow! That’s really great. The words are super. Hard to believe they were written 130 years ago; even with the “Thy’s” and “Thou’s” they have a real freshness about them.
I like the music you’ve set the words to Tom. It works well, and suits what’s written.
It must have been quite an honour to be given the chance to do this. But I don’t think there would be anyone more suited to this honour than your good self Tom — very well done, and thanks for sharing the results with us.

Very cool, Tommy! We may just need to add that to our songbook.

Gentlemen, thank you so much for the encouragement. I love sharing that song, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Sing it, Bald Man!
